High Country Cotillion Dress Code 2011-2012
Classic Cotillion Dress: Young ladies are expected to wear a traditional dress, or skirt and top, modest in appearance and length. A jacket or light sweater should be worn if the top has spaghetti straps, or shoulders are bare. (No visible cleavage allowed! Students will given a cover to wear if they are wearing low necklines.) Please wear shoes that have enclosed backs or back straps for safety when dancing; enclosed toes are recommended. (No sneakers, sandals, or open-heeled shoes, please.) Young ladies may dress as “dressy” as they wish for the “formal” events in keeping within dress code. Young Men are expected to wear a button down shirt tucked into their slacks for "Classic Cotillion Dress" events, including Club Cotillion events. Khakis or corduroys are acceptable. Ties must be worn for the “formal“ nights. Jackets are requested, but not required. No tee shirts ever. Please wear dress shoes suitable for dancing for every event. (No sneakers, sandals, or open heeled shoes.)
Weekend Session: The ”Getting to Know You Boogaloo“ “Jingle Bell Blast” “ and the “ High Country Cotillion Spring Ball” are “formal events”. “Mountain Masquerade,” “Harvest Hoedown,” “Super Bowl Bash” and “Tacky Prom” are casual events. Students may wear classic cotillion dress as defined above for any casual event or they may dress for the event within the guidelines below, always remembering safety and appropriateness for the occasion. In October, students will dress the way they think they will be in 15 years (ie: in appropriate dress for their chosen profession). For November’s “Harvest Hoedown” students may wear square dance or contra dance attire: denim jeans (skirts for girls), plaid or checked button up shirts (tucked into jeans), boots, etc. Students may dress in the colors of their favorite sports team (local, college, regional , or national) for January’s “Super Bowl Bash.” Young ladies and gentlemen MAY wear neat jeans and casual shoes for this event, once again remembering safety and appropriateness for Cotillion. For February's Tacky Prom” dress will be mismatched, out of style, fun and silly prom wear—all appropriate for Cotillion.
Club Cotillion: Please remember that students and their guests must dress within the dress code for all Club Cotillion events.
