QUOTES
FROM PAST COTILLION STUDENTS AND THEIR PARENTS
“This is the best thing
I’ve ever done in my life!”
…Travis Gryder, 8th grade student at Blowing Rock
“I want you to know that (my son) had a wonderful time tonight! He went in “kicking and screaming” and came out happy as a “June bug!” Thank you for putting together a fun time for all the kids who are participating .BRAVO!!! (Tom ) He came home and checked the calendar for when he goes again and again.”……..Scotty Prevost, mother of 8th grade Valle Crucis student
“ High Country Cotillion is the best thing that has happened to me in a long time. The boys are so polite to us and treat us like ladies.” …..Carolina Parris, 7th grade student at Hardin Park
I love seeing how respectfully boys treat my daughter
I love going to the Cotillion as a chaperone to learn manners and dance steps for myself - I'm disappointed if I have to miss a session!
We were at the orthodontist about week ago and a young man opened the door for us and insisted we go first (Meredith and I turned to each other in surprise and said - he must be from the Cotillion! And I think he was - probably around 5th grade or so.)
Seeing the boys in jackets and ties is a wonderful site! They were so handsome! And they looked like they were having a great time! ……………From Windy Whitley, Mother of Meredith Whitley, 7th grade, 2rRivers
Thanks for all that you are doing! We want to enroll the kids in the Spring Session as well. They are really enjoying it!
Mikey O'Neal, Mother of 6th grade Morgan and 8th grade Valle Crucis Patrick
I can’t tell you enough what a great job you are doing with cotillion!! The kids love it! It is the talk of the town!
Thanks!

From my perspective, Vance has enjoyed Cotillion from the first day. He has
enjoyed having the opportunity to meet and get to know other kids from
around the county who are close to his age. He even enjoys the dancing.
Every time I pick Vance up from Cotillion, I ask, "How was it today?" His
answer is always, "It was fun!"
And, as a Mom of two boys, it is so nice to see Vance dressed up for a
change! I am always impressed with how handsome he looks in nice slacks and
shoes, a dress shirt and tie! (I am glad that he does not need the entire
suit with jacket, though. That might make it less "fun", since jackets tend
to inhibit movement.)
From Heather Langdon, mother of Vance, 6th grade at VC
I just wanted to take this opportunity to tell you how absolutely WONDERFUL this
experience is for Leah. She is having such fun at the events and tells me about all the friends she is making. I hope it will continue! You have everything so
well planned and timed, that it's remarkable. Leah is already dreading the "last" cotillion because she wants to keep coming! Thanks again for having the idea and for
taking the time to spend with our children. I feel they are learning a great deal of respect for each other because of these activities.
Sincerely,
Kathy Moore

Student quotes:
Cotillion has been such a blessing to me (and everyone else)!!! Learning excellent manners and social skills under wonderful people like the Carlton’s (and Liddy, Amy, and Laura) has been a desire of mine for years. It has exceeded my expectations and provided wonderful, pure fun, as I become the best teen I can be. Thank you all so much. Love, Autumn
Autumn Miner, 10th grade homeschooler
Cotillion has taught me how to be comfortable in different social situations. I’ve had a great time, and know I’ll take great memories and new friends away from my cotillion experience.
Jamie Sheppard, WHS 10th grade
I love learning all the dances, especially the Shag. I would never have known how to do any of these dances if I didn’t go to cotillion
Katie Hopkins, 8th grade Hardin Park
From Meredith Whitley, 8th grade, 2 Rivers
- Never a dull moment!
- It is a good way to meet people.
- It's a lot of fun!
- The waltz is a whole lot more fun than I thought it would be - I love it now! I even teach it to my friends.
- I never thought I would say this...I am somewhat of a tomboy, but I actually like dressing up now.
- I met my new best friend, Carolina, at the Cotillion.
- When my mom first told me she signed me up for Cotillion without asking me, I got angry and I was just like uggh! But now I really like it and glad I did it. I'm looking forward to the spring Cotillion session! Sometimes I wish Cotillion were twice a week.
- I like the music they play at Cotillion - not boring at all!
